Is your life headed to heaven or hell?
The Bible tells us in 1 John 5:13, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that ye may know that ye have eternal life…” Is your life headed in the right direction? The simple truth is God wants you to know if your life is headed in the right direction.
To know about eternity, you must first understand your need for a Saviour. The Bible is very clear in telling us God’s opinion and His opinion is that we all have a problem called sin. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” This verse simply means that all of us have violated God’s standard at some point in our life.
God has a “zero” tolerance for imperfection. Any infraction of perfection, He calls sin. I am sure that there is a time in your life when you have told a lie, deceived someone or even were rebellious or dishonoring to your parents. These are a few common areas where we all fail. Are you willing to admit that? Can you say that according to God’s standards you are a sinner?
Sin has a high price tag. Romans 6:23 says “for the wages of sin is death…”. In other words, the price for sin is eternal death apart from God in a place called Hell. Because of our sin, none of us can make it to Heaven on our own.
Here’s the good news— The rest of Romans 6:23 says, “…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” God knows that we can never merit or earn heaven so He offers it to us in the form of a gift. He does this because He loves us, but sin must still be paid for. In Romans 5:8 God says, “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us!” Jesus Christ’s death is the payment for our sin. Like giving a gift to your friend, you must first purchase it before you can take it, wrap it and give it to them. Jesus purchased our gift, to give to us. This leads us to the next step.
You must believe that Jesus Christ will save you? Jesus Christ came to earth as God in the flesh, lived a perfect life, and then voluntarily died on a cross because He loves you. On that cross, He literally paid for all of your sins. He took your blame! What a great gift!
Finally, you must place your trust in Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour. Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” In verse ten of that same chapter God says, “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” He says it’s as simple as believing and receiving!
If you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ, please let us know that we may rejoice with you and encourage you in your new life!
